Vepr 30-06, lowest mount position possible
Written on Jun 01, 2021
I have the official Molot scope mount. Made specifically for Vepr; in this case, Vepr 23" Heavy Barrel, in 30-06. Accurate. The mount is substantial, tight, completely adjustable. It is of three piece construction, with see-thru to irons sight picture, when the scope is off the mount. I use a KNS aperture rear. The sight picture is almost perfect. Almost- the rail is not in the way, but it feels confined. I researched many other mounts, and finally decided to test drive the NPZ Extra Low Mount. It is an impressive scope mount. Solid, stiff, one piece. Also fully adjustable. RAIL ON CENTER TO SIGHTS. At almost 3mm lower than Molot, the sight picture is not confined in anyway. Lock mechanism is unique-ish, but uses same star wheel method for lock adjustment. Zero is retained when mount is removed/replaced. Same is true when scope is removed/replaced- but this is really the rings. I am pleased with the NPZ ELM. I cannot comment on AKMs, but I absolutely recommend this mount for Vepr. The 1.75-6 scope lives on the Molot mount. The Reach Out and Touch scope, lives on the NPZ. If your Vepr likes you: consider Warne rings, consider KNS aperture rear.
