Review for
OTTO Engineering NoizeBarrier Micro
I just started using the Otto NoizeBarrier Micros at a USPSA match. Right out of the box they worked well, but I didn't care for how the clear rubber tipped ear plugs fit. I change over to some Comply(3rd party)Foam ear plugs and that worked much better. I was able to hear people talking around me clearly and the whole system did a good job quieting down 9mm pistol sounds.
We did have two Open shooters in the squad that were very loud with just the Otto's on; with the Open Shooters I had to put on "over the ear" muffs on top of the Otto's.
I have not tried the Otto's in an indoor range, but I suspect I will need to double up in there as well. Not sure how they will work with large caliber rifles or shot guns.
I did hear from a friend who also has Otto's that you can get molded ear plugs made that can work with the Otto system. I suspect that can be a winner, but now we are talking about a $600+ investment for both the Otto's and molded ear plugs.
