I've been hunting & shooting since 1979. Always sighted my 22LR long arms in using 40 grain LRN ammo. Recently bought some Federal 22LR ammo & man nearly 1 out of 10 rounds misfired. Opened the Wildcat ammo & shot over two hundred rounds w/o a problem. Winchester has always made decent products their ammo is no different.
Recently bought some Federal 22LRN ammo & nearly 1 out of 10 rounds failed to fire, didn't have any issues with the Magtech ammo, came out of container clean & dry..........
Attention Ruger 10/22 fans! Factory original part labelled the bolt stop pin of all steel construction. This part does just what it says, stops the bolt. That steel-on-steel contact isn't necessary with this product. This recoil buffer is made of a stiff but pliable plastic. There is another aftermarket recoil buffer sold here that I am currently testing in my 10/22, however I bought this particular one because it seemed to be of a more solid construction. The reason for the four-star rating is I have not done any testing of this part other than dry fitting it into place.
Hello Ruger, 10/22 fans! Factory original part called the "Bolt stop pin", all steel. While I firmly believe the Ruger 10/22 is one of the best little semi autos ever made, in doing my upgrade this replacement part made sense to me. The steel-on-steel contact you get with the factory original steel stop pin doesn't make sense to me. Now there are two aftermarket bolt stops I have found; this is one of them. The other is a one-piece solid plastic pin. The Kidd design here has a small alloy pin covered in a foam insulation that seems more conducive to punishment than the factory original or the other aftermarket replacement. I have put over 500 rounds thru my carbine & haven't seen any indication of wear on the buffer. However, that is only 500 rounds, hence the reason for the 4 star rating.
