A red filter can be useful in some situations and this one flips on-off with a hinge, so that you can use the white light easily.
However, 2 big limitations: One, you may not be able to holster you pistol with it on, and it may pull off when you draw. TWo, if used on a carbine, be aware that if it isn't fully attached to the light (it is pressure fit and uses essentially ranger band rubber), it WILL pop off after firing a several dozen rounds--be sure you put it on the light all the way.

Aimpoint ACRO P-2 Red Dot Reflex Sight
I've used ACRO four times thus far at the range during training. Highly recommended. Pay a little more for quality. Built like a tank, just like Aimpoint T-2 (I have three T-2). Never had a pistol red dot before this. I like the square window. The window is only 15 mm, but train with it (including dry fire) and if your presentation technique is decent, you won't have any problems seeing the dot. Dot itself is 3.5, a good size for handgun use. No tunnel effect with the enclosure. The sidewalls are thick (that's one reason why it is durable) but with a little training, I don't even notice them. If you like using a T-2, you'll like the ACRO. One caveat: brightness adjustments are via two buttons, which are a little small--they work OK for summer gloves but may be a little difficult with heavy winter padded gloves.
