I have a 52 D that was never fired. I didn't want to mess with it to mount a current production scope. The guy who previously made no drill mounts quit making them. With this mount you can mount a modern scope without drilling the rear of the receiver. You use the rear holes for the rear supplied holes already in the barrel. It cantilever's over the receiver. A stabilizer support on the rear of the base would be better, but it works as is. It's about the only way to mount a scope and leave a vintage rifle intact.

This is the 3rd Weaver T series scope I have owned. In my opinion there is not a better target type scope on the market for the money. They are sturdy, dependable and just can't be beat. I have owned both the 36 and 24 power T series and they just work.
