Unless you have your optic mounted real high it is risky as the charging handle tends to be restricted by the comb. This works great on a side charger AR or Bolt Action…
I mounted this on my Browning 180 and it is a great setup, however working the device is difficult to say the least. Once folded open it is extremely frustrating to fold.
I have this extended bolt release on a couple rifles and absolutely appreciate quick access to release the bolt and it does not interfere with the trigger manipulation. Great Produclt
The side folding mechanism requires Superman/woman fingers or a stout sharpie pen to disengage and fold the device. It holds it securely but it is highly inconvenient! They should have extended the pressure nob/bolt to make it easier to manipulate.
Put this on my Springfield St Edge (223) and zeroed at 100 yard indoor range. The clarity of the optics at this price point is excellent. Nice parallax adjustment and exposed windage/elevation turrets make adjustments simplistic. Once zeroed you can unscrew the turret caps and set to zero. Im anxious to use this at longer range and more light. A center dot lighted reticle would be a nice touch, however, that would touch the wallet as well. The aesthetic bronze matches my St Edge-looks great. OBTW Vortex recommends not using a weighted gun vise during zero. Refer to users manual for more information. I used an ACCU-TAC bi-pod from a seated bench position.
The cheek piece on the model I purchased was too high and I could find no way to remove the piece entirely. The quality is nice the built in Mag Carrier is a phenomenal idea, however I was unable to test it under range conditions to see how it would hold up?
To be fair this may be good for those who choose a higher scope riser
I truly enjoy the shake awake green Dot sight. While I take care to ensure that the weapon doesn’t get banged about its ability to hold zero is “spot” on! WIndage and Elevation knobs are easy to access and use. I have a couple of these on my pistols and put one on the ACOG it is a phenomenal piece of equipment!
The fact that this is not my first TRYBE hand guard should demonstrate my appreciation of a quality product. It is indeed light weight and ergonomic. I will buy from TRYBE again as needed.
This is the first time I have ever used an ACOG. I slapped a laser site on the barrel and was able to easily adjust windage and elevation without sending a round down range at 25 yards. Once I was satisfied that the scope and I were on the same sheet of music I managed a nice group at 25. I then adjusted to 50 and 100 yards and was quite impressed with the groupings. Since the AR/ACOG and I fired together for the first time, I can only exclaim the ease of use. The Chevron and elevation gradients are visible and spot on accurate. Shooters world has 100 yard range maximum so I can’t speak to further distances. I can speculate that based on the groupings at 100 this has a lot more range and accuracy I expect. Very easy to reaquire site picture during double tap type drills at closer distances and the field of view is exceptional.
