The scope is good. I have had great views of the moon Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Mars was so so, probably not so good skies then, or a dust storm on Mars. The GEM needs to be beefier, and the motor drive more solidly mounted. This is no astrophotography GEM, but a barely suitable visual GEM. Throw a cheap 50mm refractor on the GEM and mount this scope on a Celestron go to GEM and you will love it.
