TruGlo Tritium Night Sight are perfect! I just had them installed (you can do it easily if you have a sight press). These are a big improvement over the stock sites in daylight and in darkness or low light they are required. The large white ring on the front sight is better than other night sight available including other TruGlo sights. I originally wanted a laser sight at first. Previously I tried the Armalaser TR-23G which was a piece of garbage (both units, the original and the replacement had the same issue where the laser was off 45 degrees after the first shot). Then I tried the Viridian E series, shockingly again the laser did not hold its zero. Much better than the Armalaser but still off by 4-7” at 20’. Not good or reliable and any closer you do not need them. Lasers are harder to see than a good front sight. I would never trust them for handguns, there is no room for error when you are responsible for the bullet until it stops. I am way more accurate at close range and out to 50’ with my iron and tritium sights. Now with the TruGlo Pro’s I am very accurate in low and no light at 7’-40’. The slat in the rear sight allows for easy one handed operation if needed.
The Viridian E Series is one of the few lasers made for the Taurus PT-111 G2 which is awesome. I previously used the Armalaser TR23G and that was a complete piece of junk. After the first shot the two I tried broke. So I decided on the Viridian laser for the PT-111 G2.
First the Pro's of which there are several, the unit is well put together and the FIT IS EXCELLENT. The installation is EASY!! The unit is very light and is very easy to use. The buttons are within reach however I do wish they were a little farther from the protective ledge at the front of the uint. Some times after drawing my firearm I could not get the laser activated. Other than those few times the unit turned on and off and the auto shut off was nice. Plus you can get two free batteries from viridian. Finally, there is a IWB holster made for the PT-111 G2 WITH the Viridian E-series that is super important.
The Con's: as with any red laser it is difficult to see beyond 25-30' in the daylight. The larger issue for me was zeroing the laser. We could not get it where I needed it and the tiny screws for elevation grew weak when we tried to fine tune it. I found my iron sights are more accurate and being this firearm is for close quarters activity, I am sticking with them and getting the TruGlo Tritium sights. I am accurate at 50' with the stock sights and would rather take cover from that distance then try to train a laser (which is really going to be sighted for 20'-25' max. So there you have
