Worked like a champ!

Written on Aug 01, 2018

I used 1.5 table spoons of Dawn dish washing soap, one table spoon of Lemi Shine and a table spoon of Armorall wash and wax as my cleaning mix (all from Walmart).... tumbled for 2 hours and the brass went from heavy carbon filthy to nice, clean and shiny. Not factory new looking but a world of difference anyway.

I maybe should have rinsed out the dirty water and ran the brass a second time (30 minutes maybe) to see how much cleaner it would have come out (if any) but the brass was plenty clean for my needs.

The Lyman Cyclone operated smoothly, fairly quiet and trouble free. I put the unit outside my garage while I pressed ammo inside. I have a spot just outside the back door so I took advantage of that so the little noise that the tumbler made would not bother me.

Overall I am very happy with the purchase.... oh, the brass catcher and pin catcher trays are a nice add on. They worked great. I dumped my brass on a large bath towel.... quick "pat" dried them out to soak up most of the moisture and then transferred them to a dry towel for final drying time. A ceiling fan in my garage plus the hot July heat (in Houston Texas) help dry the brass quickly. I left the pins in the pin catching tray and put that out in the sun to heat them up and dry them out faster (agitating them every 30 minutes or so to expose the water droplets embedded in them).... they were dry within 2 hours... and that is a lot of stainless media pins!

2 Thumbs up from me!

Very nice caps... MUCH BETTER than the poor Butler's Creek lens covers!

Written on Jul 28, 2017

These are some of the best caps out there.... and they are cheap enough to not really get sticker shocked on the purchase.

The other cheapo options cost at least half as much if not more.... for the price, durability and easy fitment.... these scope lens covers are awesome!

There are even better lens covers like the Leupold Alumina for example... but that is at a much higher cost. The Vortex Defenders do just a good as a job protecting and working as intended... but without the fancy Leupold approach for that protection. Don't get me wrong... I like the Leupold Alumina's a lot... but for $20 the Vortex are every bit as good in providing the protection in my opinion.

Great Scope for the money!

Written on Jul 27, 2017

I have used many brands out there. I have used 5 KonusPro scopes on .308 deer rifle, AR10 and AR15 platforms. This scope is awesome considering price and capability.

The reticle is laser etched... so no worries there. In this particular model the reticle is a ballistic style that is very nice and clean to look through. The reticle is also very thin... not thick (bulky looking) when viewing through the scope. So it is a pleasure to view through.

I have taken down White Tail Bucks as far out as 400 yards.... and as close up as 25. The adjustable range on the front end of the scope works well for all of my shots.

This past weekend I shot an Axis buck with a 31" tall, 24" wide rack..... I was in the rain shooting through west Texas brush and cactus. My KonusPro and my AR10 .308 took the Axis out with a perfect shoulder shot... which I could not see due to the brush and rain... but I estimated well. The Konus allowed me to see the Axis's antlers well enough for me to study the body position to get that bullet in the right spot... even though I could not see the actual body due to the brush. I would not have made that shot with a lot of other scopes out there.... the Konus was dead on where I wanted that bullet to go.

Now on the other hand this is not a Leupold of the same magnification range... but it is 85% of that for a ton less money. For a $160-ish price point this is a lot of scope.... and in many cases better than many shooters personal capabilities.

The bottom line....
