The customer service of Optics Planet, as usual, was exemplary. I purchased the Holosun HS407K-X2 for my IWI Masada (9mm semi-auto) primarily because of the compact size, the larger size of the red dot (6 MOA), and my existing good experience with this product line. The Masada is a full-sized pistol that comes with a pre-drilled and machined top of the slide for installing red dot sights. They also provide four factory-made adapter plates suitable for various manufactured red dots, none of which are for Holosun. Fortunately, with a little bit of amateur gunsmithing (i.e., minor filing and dressing), I was able to modify the factory plate made for the "Delta Point" sight vs. purchasing a different adapter made especially for the IWI (so said the vendor). This saved me $75. I was advised that a sub-compact sight was not the best fit for a full-sized pistol but now that I have installed it, I disagree. I am happy with the way the Holosun looks on the gun. The width of the sight perfectly matches the width of the slide and the shorter height decreases the chances of interference with the holster. Next week I will find out how it "looks" on the range. If I have problems, I will report them; however, I believe that a negative report is not in my future.
I love Nikon scopes and prior to this purchase, I had never dealt with Optics Planet. I recently purchased a new Marlin .22 semi-auto. A buddy told me about OP and when I hit their website, they just happened to be running a special on this scope (40% less than Nikon MSRP and 30% less than Cabelas). I took a chance and bought it for this rifle. I had always had others mount scopes for me; however, OP has this wonderful scope-mounting instructional video (38 minutes long) and I decided to try it myself this time. Success! I followed the instructions with only minor deviations and now the scope is aligned, tight, secure, and most importantly, the rifle is accurate. My last 5 shots at 50 yards were within a 3/4" circle. The last 5 at 100 yards were within 1.5" circle. I wish that they would have been closer but I am getting old and decrepit and the accuracy (or lack thereof) has more to do with me than the scope or rifle. One of the best design features of the BDS scope is the set of additional sight circles under the "zero" horizontal cross hair. Hitting the "SPOTON" calculator on the Nikon website, selecting this scope, and inputting my ammunition (.22) and "zeroing" distance (50 yards), I downloaded the data for the zero distance for each of the sight circles at 3X, 6X, and 9X magnification (special hint: a change in magnification does change the zeros). The data was spot-on. No more guessing the drops! Did I happen to mention that I love Nikon scopes? In summ
