All purpose shoes

Written on Feb 04, 2026

These boots actually fit my feet. I have attempted to wear dozens of brands of shoes; of all them this one seems to most functional, plus they look pretty good. I notice the area around the Achilles is shaped to fit the back of my ankle. The leather is high quality, the boot last is designed to flex with forward motion while still providing good arch and ankle support. Also, the ankle is narrow, and the forefoot widened somewhat (wide last). The reason I have attempted to wear so many different brands of boots is one ankle is messed up from a horse accident and this type of boots seems to wedge things around in my foot the way it is supposed to be but isn't. For these to work, I replaced the laces with spiral wound paracord as the spiral wound cord stays tied and can be tightened through the eyelets; (while the parachute type cord is dysfunctional as shoelaces).

lightweight scope rings

Written on Oct 10, 2016

I used this scope mount to "Picatinny Rail" that cost about $60 for the following reasons, this Talley Scope mount is:
*Lower; just about right for 2-7 power scope
*Light weight
*Allow rifle to top load cartridges into the magazine. God help anyone that is facing a dangerous animal and has to stuff a cartridge into a bolt action rifle through the top of the magazine on a rifle with the Picatinny rail; my fingers just won't fit in that space.
*Seems solid. I used a torque wrench to install, as have to be careful with Aluminum parts.
Thanks.

belt to carry can of bear spray

Written on Sep 27, 2016

This works very well to carry a can of pepper spray while running or walking (very light and can be cinched down on semi-fat people like me). Need to buy a high quality bear spray holster, also. I found a "Mace" brand bear spray holster that works and was inexpensive. The current holsters provided with cans of bear spray are "junk."

Scope Base

Written on Sep 15, 2016

I like this product, replaced a one piece weaver type base with two piece base. The one piece base is well made and designed, due to fingers too big and "cut out" too small, I had trouble putting ammunition in the rifle (bold action) through the top of the magazine. Not a big problem at the target range, but "not so hot feature" when hands are cold, hunting, or being charged by a bull and can't load the rifle. Also, can get the scope lower and closer to the bore with the combination scope ring/base feature. I wasted about $50 on one of those fancy weaver type one piece bases learning this fact.
