Good, Stout Patches

Written on Sep 10, 2015

I really like these patches. I like the heavier cloth and courser weave courser than any other patches I've tried. They seem to provide some scrubbing action and I feel like I get better cleaning while using fewer patches than with other brands. And they don't shed lint.

Good - Not Great

I already had a Harris bipod but I'm taking a friend hunting and lending him a rifle so I bought this one as a second bipod to put on the second rifle. I was also hoping to improve upon some of the features that I don't like about the Harris. So far,I've only used it at the range. I haven't taken it into the field.
This bipod is made of aluminum and has no springs, so it's lighter and less bulky than the Harris, two advantages. The height is not optimal for me. The un-extended height is too high for me to use prone and the fully extended height is a little to high for me to use comfortably sitting. It works for me kneeling but that is a less steady position. The legs can be extended to any length and locked (unlike the Harris, which has pre-set locking points) so I could extend them partway to get the best height but I don't see myself fiddling with the leg height in the field with an animal in front of me. I'd rather just pull it to full length and lock it. Of course, it may be just right for someone taller than I am at 5'9".
It feels flimsy compared to the Harris but I shot about 50 rounds with it attached to a .300 WSM, which kicks fairly hard, with no breakage. It did, however, have a tendency for the leg extension locks to loosen, allowing a leg to collapse, over the course of several shots. I'm not sure this will be an issue in the field, when I will only take one or two shots in succession anyway. But I can envision this getting worse with wear, whic
