Good value mag extensions
Written on Jun 02, 2025
Bought 3 on sale, well constructed with nice features for the money, trap door for spring access/maintenance, locking pin from the extension backing out, textured sides for grip. Extra power spring seems to a good spring weight to make up for additional length.
FYI, these will NOT fit in a USPSA mag gauge using OEM 17 round magazines, they measure closer to 146mm in length. The trap door feature on the bottom puts them out of spec, no easy way of modification without ruining the machined tongue and groove of the door.

Great cumberbund upgrade
Written on Jan 13, 2025
The default cummerbund on the Crye JPC (2.0) is pretty basic, I was seeking a cummerbund option that has a provision for soft armor insert AND built in magazine slots. This Shellback Banshee gave me those two options in addition to quick release buckles.
The modularity of being able to weave this into my existing carrier just with shock cord was nice without too much jerry rigging. Total capacity is 8 on the cummerbund, plus presumably 3 on the front carrier so upwards of 11 magazines in a relatively slim package, without feeling like you have a floatation inner tube around you. You are able to put a radio into the mag pouches without getting too bulky with add-on pouches.
The only small gripes I have are the buckles are quick release, not so much quick donning, it's a small effort to align everything snugly and click in. The second small gripe is the cummerbund magazine pouches are pretty much AR magazine sized only, nothing bigger like AK style mags or 7.62x51. Lastly, fishing out the 3rd and 4th mag from the front is pretty much impossible. Those will likely have be for your battle buddies to access.
