Ike from United States, MN Public Profile

I have a pair of Leica 8x32 Trinovid BN that I use for birding and hunting. My wife recently retired and we went on a trip to the south west this past spring and shared the bins. This did not work well. We are going to the Gulf of Mexico this winter and I wanted something to compliment the Leica. After much research, I looked through pocket size Swarovski, Ziss Victory, Leica Trinovid, and Leica Ultravid. I decided to take a chance on the Terra Ed 8X25. As it turns out, I like the Terra better than all the others except the Ultravids. However, the Terra Ed are less than 1/2 the cost. They are light and comfortable in the hand. The glass is clear and we can see most of the field of view with our glasses on. There are two things that are negative's. First the depth of field appears to me to be smaller than I expected. Second the adjustment wheel for the right eyepiece to compensate for the differences in eye strength does not have any witness marks. I will have to make two marks on the wheel so we do not have to fuss with the adjustment.

Also, the Terra Ed 8x25 is made in Japan and the other Terras are made in China. I looked through some Chinese Terras in a store and was not impressed.

I had a good experience buying from Optics Planet. The bins came a couple days after promised. I live out in the sticks and thought the delivery date was optimistic.
