The only folding pistol grip I could find
Written on Feb 15, 2025
My quick access safe is said to house up to five ARs. Well, that's if there is no optics on them; even with a red dot, it's an inch too tight for the door to close securely.
That's where this folding pistol grip comes in so handy, it just gives me much needed space. Helps to fit two rifles in a case for a single rifle, too, or use lower profile case. 10 rd magazine sticks out about as far as this handle folded.
To fold the handle, one needs to push an oversize slotted screw on the left side (not shown in the picture); it's stiff, I can only do it with my thumb if I twist my wrist the right way to help it; sometimes I put my other thumb over to help pushing it; I am not particularly strong-handed, yet there are plenty people out there with yet weaker hands or with arthritis, who may have trouble operating that button. It only locks in the unfolded position, so unfolding it is easy, and that's what matters in an emergency. The rifle can be fired with the grip folded, too, though holding it that way is a bit awkward.
There is a storage compartment for batteries and what not; I need to use a small flat screwdriver to push the catch open; a penny or dime should work, too.
I ended up buying one of these handles for each AR I have, plus one more for a VZ-58, using and adapter. (AK adapters are also plentiful.)
Some people dislike finger groves as they don't fit every person's hand. These work fine for me with my L-sized hands.
Would rather get an analog made domestically, but

What I was looking for pocket carry. Time will tell.

Vertx Defiance Jeans - Men's
My method of carry is in a pocket. Previously, I was wearing CCW Breakaway (Optics Planet, why don't you carry them?); which are perfect for that purpose, but I disagree with the fabric they use. Most other pants have pockets are much too narrow. These are just spacious enough for a micro-9. The best part, there are little fabric anchors sewn into the pocked seam where I can attach the holster to; that's (besides properly sized front pockets) is the deal maker. How comes nobody else thought of that?
I am not sure about the mesh material longevity though; time will tell. Nothing sharp will go into these pockets.
Yoke pockets are perfect for a modern sized phone or wallet. They are deep, it takes some effort to fist the wallet out (which just barely fits width-wise); I consider it a good thing. Perhaps I should be using a longer wallet.
Rear pockets are the only ones with the jean fabric backing. They also feature wallet traps. I am not using back pockets much, don't like sitting on my stuff, but I suppose jeans without them would look strange.
There are four secret stash pockets; one curiously placed in the fly, two on the inside of waistband, and one is the label; that's discreet! They are only good for a small key, micro sewing kit, tiny pill box, USB stick or such. In other words, very limited use.
Seem to be true to size.
There are sewn creases on the knees and thighs; never saw anything like that anywhere else.
Watch pocket-in-pocket is only on the right side. It's
