More for Comfort Than Raising Cheekweld

Written on Sep 12, 2024

The main thing this piece provides is comfort. If you're thinking it will somehow raise the cheekweld up, you *will* be disappointed. But if you ever shoot on a cold day and hate the feeling of the biting cold aluminum stock, this really helps negate that. It raises it maybe a few millimeters. Maybe. There's no discernable difference in the height frankly.

It's nice in that it locks on very securely, so much so that when I wanted to adjust mine more rearward, I had to take a plastic punch and a mallet to get it back off. I guess that little rectangular plastic bit you see pictured (but not described, thanks Sig) is for inserting into the riser's slots on the inside (not pictured), but with my minimalist plus stock, it isn't possible to use it.

Looks like it will be easily scratched and dinged up, durability wise. It contrasts very nicely on the minimalist coyote/FDE stock.

Four stars because it *is* good, but Sig overpriced it by three times what is reasonable. But we all know that's just how Sig does things.

Hope this helps, have a nice day.

Was Great Until It Wasn't

Written on Nov 20, 2023

I had this on my left side of a CZ Scorpion and another brand on the right as backup. As a note having two is also pretty handy if you value your hearing, as anyone slipping and dropping the massive bolt in a small room while cleaning may understand.

I had expected the rather long handle to have a leverage problem considering where the hinge is located and how force is applied when charging, but it's frankly fine as long as you aren't applying force at the furthest point away from the firearm. The increased leverage over the stock Scorpion make this worth it by itself.

The charging handle itself isn't exactly like a HK G36 in that it doesn't spring closed / forward, however the physics of the massive bolt on a Scorpion mean 8/10 times it'll fold forward by itself.

Fit and installation of this is incredibly easy.

Unfortunately after around 500 rounds with this handle installed, it broke. You may be thinking it was the hinge but you'd be wrong. No, it sheared off midway between the hinge and the rod. And this happened not whilst charging the firearm, but on firing it. Didn't make much sense really. I'm not 100% on what the material where it broke is made of, but it seems like something that won't last too long. A shame since otherwise this is a must have accessory.
