I had one 10 inch Meade SCT. The drive had considerable backlash, the hand control wires shortened out there were imperfections in the corrector lens and the threads were poorly machined. I called Meade and got a run around and a very nasty person who had no knowledge or training on how to address my complaints. In the 80s I was a technical sales consultant for Meade and back then the telescopes were amazing I am saddened on how many short cuts the company has taken in the production of their telescopes to make more profit. I ended up selling it for half of what I paid for it. I know have Celestron and they are much better telescopes.
