Very nice machine for the money

Written on Mar 10, 2015

I have had this press for a while now, probably have ran a little north of 10k rounds on it. Mine is setup with a case feeder and I am just now starting to pay with bullet feeder dies. The case feeder is a little tricky to setup but once you get the hang of it it runs pretty smoothly (except with 300 blackout I have trouble with those still). The press itself is fairly straightforward, easy to setup and easy to use. The powder measure works well with most powders and the primer setup has so far been superb. My only complaint would be the cost to setup for different calibers, but I guess its still a bit less than a dillon. I do wish Hornady had done their homework and made the AP press the same height (ram stroke to dies) as the single stage so the dies could be swapped back and forth without resetting them but it only takes a minute.

Does what it says

I have had this lyman twin tumbler unit for a while now and it is a much nicer unit that the frankfort arsenal machine that sits beside it. This unit is quieter and seems to polish/clean a little faster that the Frankfort Arsenal. I like the ability to use the small bowl when I have small batches. Worth the extra coin to me.

Works with other powder drops also

Written on Mar 10, 2015

I have used this linkage setup with a hornady powder drop for quite a while. I have found that the hornady powder drop does a great job with most powders but a few that I like to use run MUCH better in my RCBS uniflow I used this setup with that powder drop and I can now swap to which ever powder drop works better with that powder. I will be ordering another so I can leave both units setup to go. Kinda pricey but its well worth it if your using a progressive press (not useful at all on a single stage) then you cant hardly get by without one.

Works well, accurate and simple

I bought one of these to replace a digital scale that was not very accurate. I figured that having the powder measure built in would be helpful working up loads. I have used it numerous times and have only had it to be off by more that .1 Gr maybe twice. Usually it is spot on, maybe 10% of the time its .1 gr off (usually its closer to .05 when checked with a beam). I have ran a variety of powders from Trailboss to Varget to Tite Group with very little deviation. It requires you to allow it to warm up for 3 mins prior to use, but it doesnt go off on its own like a lot of others (or it hasnt on me) I fire it up when I start any loading operation and use the scale to double check a powder drop periodically with great success. Its pricey but a very nice unit that is very easy to use.

Works as advertised

This tumbler comes out of the box ready to use. I did not use the solution that comes with it, I used 1 tsp of Citric Acid and a squirt of dawn. After running 550 .223's for 1 hour they look new. Ran 200 30-06 that were VERY dirty (outside range find) and they came out new in 90 mins. I would guess I half filled the unit both times (give or take) seems like it would hold a lot more. I only covered the brass/pins with water about an inch and had no problems- not sure if more would be better but my way worked fine. Got a batch of 9mm to run next, not sure how many there are of them I wont be counting! Well worth the money, better price than any other source. I used the free shipping option on Wednesday night and received in the following Tuesday (post office delayed delivery on both Saturday and Monday for some reason)-- Optics planet did their part, it shipped the day after I ordered it.
