When I first got my handguard grip, I first thought about getting and angled foregrip. I thought to myself that i should get a rubber angled foregrip and thumb rest from FAB. Got a good deal as well. After I went to the range, I did not really like the angled grip. So I went with a vertical grip from Samson. I have big hands from a guy that is 6'4" 300lbs. So I got the Large size with a 4.2 inch grip. The M-LOK attachment fit perfectly, and the grip itself is a threaded attachment. From then on, you can use a handed tool. The vertical grip is kinda skinny, so I bought some hockey tape and wrapped it around a few times, and now IT IS PERFECT!!!! Next Tuesday, I'm going to the range and check it out. I cannot wait to go shooting!
Also, I bought another AR pistol, and my upper is 7.5 inch that shoots 300 AAC Blackout. I don't plan to get a SBR stamp, so I figured I might as well hook it up with that FAB angled foregrip, and I like it with the 7.5 inch upper.
The reason i wrote this review was it does what it says. Everyone else's review were absolutely correct. It is lighter and ballistic gel test will tell you of the damage and wound cavities. But you wanna know about 3A armor tests. I bought a new vest because my old was old. Me and my buddy went to a private range and I used a 5 gallon bucket with an old 3A plate, and my brand new Glock 20 Gen 5. We tried Blazer 180 gr FMJ, Underwood 115 gr solid monolith, and Liberty Ammo 60 gr hollow point. First, Blazer, third, Underwood. Both were able to stop a round. But the second round, i went through the plate and punched a hole through the 5 gallon bucket full of water. I thought for sure it was just an old plate, I will use another old plate. I used three shots with Liberty ammo. It punched all three rounds though the plate, no f***ing problem. I puched 2 more rounds, same thing. I was SO impressed. I thought for sure the pistol round that could defeat a vest would be 5.7×28 lead free rounds. I was SO WRONG! The 5.7 rounds are a pretty small round, between 27-40 grain. The hole from the bucket was pretty large. I really wanna see if the Liberty 70 grain will perform the same target. I have 2 old side panels, and will try those.
So two things about 10mm firearms and ammo: 1) You can take out a bear pretty easy. 2) You can take out a 3A vest pretty easy. My Glock 20 is my new carry gun instead of my PSA Rock.
I like it, what can I say, it's a Houge grip. I keep my Romeo7 and my Juliet4 spare batteries in the grip. The the grip itself has a good feel. Like it can handle it even if your hands are sweaty. Good stuff...
