I have purchased many handguards over the years, the quality you get at this price point in unmatched compared to other brands at much higher price points. The design is awesome, and the finish is super smooth, no rough edges, and the cerakote is fantastic uniform color, no chips or faded areas. Installation is super easy and you don’t need any special device for the barrel nut, basic armorers wrench will do. Would totally recommend for your next build.

I purchased this upper for an AR 9MM build I am completing. Based on the pictures, upper looks really cool. However, upon opening, the overall finish is not that of a premiun upper. Milling feels very sharp, (no, you are not going to cut your hand, its just not smooth) and ceraktoe black finish is very dull, with an almost like sandy finish to the texture. I have built many AR15s, when i buy a billet receiver, i am expecting a great smooth milling finish, and a rich dark black cerakote, they usually even feel a bit glossy. For being a billet receiver, i do not get the premium feel.

The above, is not really a deal breaker for me, only because i got this on sale, and planning on cerekoting the entire rifle a different color.

My biggest issue with this upper is that it has poor fitment specs with standard mil spec lowers. The uppers takedown pin area wont easily slide into the lower I have. I tested my lower with other uppers i have from different brands, no issues, the R&D Precision wont slide in smooth. I oiled it & gave it a push and while it locks now, it completely scraped the cerekote on both the lower and upper, and removing the upper is a complete challenge. I will have to sand/Grind the takedown pin area of the upper to hopefully achieve a smoother action.
