It looks like the majority of negative reviews have to do with stock and shipping. As far as the scope goes I have zero complaints. It's 25% lighter than the Gen 1 and the "zero" setting looks to be more like "zero" magnification. Perhaps some folks think that "zero" will mimic an RDS, but there is no magic wand. I usually keep it around 2-3 power and that is more than effective for any "quick" needs out to 100 yards. Past that the 6x is magic. Crisp, clear, precise, Japanese, and beautiful inside and out. I haven't mounted in a Midwest industries quick release mount and between this scope and that mount I can remove and reinstall and the zero is absolutely spot-on. The adjustment knobs for elevation and windage are crisp and tactile. The focus ring has the perfect amount of resistance. I hear Vortex has a heck of a warranty but I prayerfully doubt I'll need it on this. Oh by the way, this was my first Vortex purchase, and I guess I held out so long because I didn't want to be a "Vortex fanboy" but here I am lol.
I don't know why anyone would spend more, let alone, buy another trigger besides this one for their AR. It is, well, it's perfect. I love the slightly wider surface, standard "curve." Another no-nonsense product from LaRue. And the price...wow
Over the years I've used numerous parts from CMMG. While some fads and manufacturers come and go it seems like CMMG has and will be a consistent supplier of no nonsense product.
I found out about this brand because the 9mm AR I bought last year had a 4 inch Stern Handguard. I replaced the 5 inch barrel with an 11 inch barrel and wanted a 10 inch handguard. Since I found nothing wrong with the existing Stern 4 inch handguard I purchased the 11 inch one. Keep in mind you will need to buy the wrench from Stern's website (which I didn't mind doing). I read some people had trouble with gas tubes but my application on a 9mm AR is blowback so this worked great for me. It is of high quality and not ridiculously expensive. I see other handguards made of the same material for double and triple the price. This works fine for me.
I read a lot of stuff about Ballistic Advantage before buying this barrel and I am not disappointed. I installed this on an interesting 9mm AR I purchased last year that uses MP5 magazines. The barrel I replaced was a 5 inch barrel and I wanted a longer barrel to accommodate a longer handguard. This barrel is extremely accurate. It is thick enough to not get hot quickly during rapid fire. If you buy a barrel from this company I don't think you will regret it.
I installed this just as instructed by the budget instructions it came with. I took it to the range and had what some other users are reporting. It would fire one round then I would have to manually reset the trigger. I took it to the gunsmith at the range he inspected the trigger and said yes I put it in right but he said there's just something wrong with this trigger because he had the same experience that I had. He advised me to return it and either good an OEM replacement (which I did) or throw this in the trash. Luckily Optics Planet has a hassle-free return policy. I returned the trigger to OpticsPlanet and am awaiting my refund. For $100 plus dollars what a waste of time and money. Timney should stick to Bolt Action Rifle triggers.
