Works Fine Against Whitetails

Written on Nov 12, 2024

Father-In-Law gave me a family heirloom rifle, a Browning A-frame .257 Roberts with s Bausch and Lomb 1.5-6x scope. Proud to say I broke it in after a two year dry spell on opening day. Dropped a 200-lb 9point buck from 80yrds, 15yrd elevation. This round mushroomed on impact, shredded the liver and both lower lung lobes, and was caught in the hide on the other side. Definitely performs as advertised.

Works Great… Holster options limited

Written on Oct 22, 2024

Picked up this unit because I wanted a laser option, due to high predator activity around the farm, as a back up for nighttime use. The laser is incredibly bright, as is the light output. If you’re looking for outdoor use at night for predator mitigation. This unit shines. It looks great as its slim and fits perfectly on full size or oversize frames, without overhang. The downside is finding Holsters for it. Best options if you’re going to pistol mount, is to hop on forums that have your type of side arm as the topic, and ask around what others have used. I found two or three brands that can handle it. The paddle switches work far better than the standard rotary switch on the TLR – 1, that design has had lots of problems with accidental turning on inside of bags, and starting heat related problems. The new TLR-1 HLX solves that problem with the paddle switch design that the TLR – 10 has, but holster makers have to catch up to this new HLX design. Works great, looks great, nice and lightweight. Never had a problem.

The one thing I’ve seen as a downside is the laser adjustment requires the smallest, finest allen (hex) wrench that you have. It’s the kind only provided in the original packaging of this unit, or one you may have from another WLM. It’s so small you won’t have it in a standard pocket set kit that might’ve gotten at the hardware store. Be very delicate when inserting the provided Allen ranch, it’s very easy to accidentally shove it in at the wrong angle or break the

BEST! If you have a 5.5 surgical glove hand…

Written on Aug 17, 2024

G48 was my first purchase of a 9 mm pistol. After comparing to the G19 at a range, the G48 gave me the better grouping having never fired a pistol before. While the Glock grip certainly can be “blocky” this grip mitigates all of that. It stops all manner of torquing of the pistol in the hand, allowing for less stability needed from your non-grip hand. My G48 shoots far easier than I could’ve imagined, and have gone through two different stick on grips before this Houge, and this is the best. As title says if you have a smaller hand, this additional grip makes it even better!

Strongly, strongly, strongly, recommend following the manufactures directions to the letter for installation. Be sure you have dry lubricant at the ready, cut the plastic from the container as they recommend to use as shoehorns, takeoff the slide, and use a folded up T-shirt to protect, open lower hardware as you push the pistol against your abdomen to force this product on. It requires a lot of effort and elbow grease. But once it’s on, it’s a game changer!

Fisheye Effect Is Strong, Loud Caps

Written on Nov 23, 2023

Ordered this after needing a LPVO for deer hunting in dense brush and forrest. Used a Vortex 3-9 Diamondback last year, and too hard to get focus starting at 3x with dense foliage. Friend had a Vortex Strike Eagle, and liked the ability to line up shots with both eyes open. This Sig was much cheaper than the Vortex by over $100, and it comes with flip caps, and a mount, adding that up as a side cost, there is huge value in the Sig. However, on 1x, there is a pronounced fishbowl effect, around the edges of the FOV. It is less pronounced when on higher mag, but thats not the point of the optic, its meant for close targeting with high density in your depth of field. The flip caps are included, but at flimsy hard plastic, and have all or none spring action. When you pop them open, they clatter against the frame of the scope as they swing 180° open. So forget being quiet in the woods with these included end caps. After just looking thru the scope, hearing the caps open, and seeing the distortion which makes targeting with two eyes open, giving a “swimming under water with one eye in a goggle” effect… Im returning it in pristine condition and spending the extra money on the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x. Turns out that it comes with end caps according to the blurb, and once it arrives (ordered last night), will give comparison review.

FAST. Hole-Punches cleanly thru paper.

Written on May 10, 2023

Used in a Glock 40, 6”barrel, longslide. Recoil was more like a full size G17 9mm. Very easy to control. Using a red dot at 7m, all shots within 4” radius, first time firing. Super fast round, the targets looked like Ive never seen before. Rather than the standard, charcoal dark rimmed holes w slight tearing, the target paper looked like it had been punched out almost perfectly w a hole punch. Minute tearing at edges, but no paper deformity. Makes me interested in seeing results in ballistic gel. Overall all worth the cost for the accuracy, and at over 2000fps, very curious to figure out if this would do similar penetration compared to hard cast rounds.
