I have an older model Savage 99 that I inherited. It still shoots good but is a little rough. It's the gun I took my first deer and antelope with. I'm seriously wanting to have it restored and hunt with it again. To that end until I find a gunsmith I've been trying to gather some ammo. 300 Savage is not a well used cartridge and definitely not as popular as it once was. Ammo is scarce and when you find it it's usually premium price. I was happy to find Power Point ammo at a reasonable price, probably should have purchased more. I'm also very happy with how fast they shipped it out. I haven't tried it yet as hunting seasons in this area are winding down but I definitely plan to make a few trips to the range soon. Should be good, an old standby bullet in an old standby caliber out of an old standby rifle.
I have been looking for a pistol or high eye relief scope for a single shot rifle caliber CVA pistol. I had no idea that most manufacturers no longer make pistol scopes or if they do they're out of stock. I had ordered a pistol scope from your affiliate site DVOR. It has been backordered almost a year. I had finally given up the idea of a magnified optic and was going to try a red dot, but eye relief was still an issue. I found two optic companies who made low magnification, high eye relief scopes and I chose the HI-Lux because it had higher eye relief and I think it will meet my needs better. The price was an excellent value and only time will answer if it was the right choice.
I'm very happy so far with the scope. I just got it mounted last week and have it bore sighted but I haven't completed the sight in process yet. It's impressive that the features included can be so affordable. This is my first FFP scope and I like this way more than I thought I would. also the ability to lock the adjustment on the turrets. It also comes with good quality flip up scope caps. I had transitioned away from the flip caps because of poor fit poor durability. These OEM Sig caps seem to be great fitting and sturdy. Overall I'm pleased with the purchase and only more use and time will provide the final verdict.
