I thoroughly enjoy shooting the Black Aces Tactical 1650 FPS 12 gauge rifled slugs from my RIA VR80. I never experienced the jams that other shooters experienced (on YouTube) with cycling lower FPS shells during the 100-shot break-in period, since I always use the Black Aces high brass 1650 FPS shells (RIA recommends no less than 1300-1350 FPS when breaking in the rifle). I have consistently grouped 8"-9" with a dirty gun and barrel and a red dot sight at 100 yards. I like to let the gun self-clean, with the occasional oiling or swabbing. For the price, Black Aces rifled slugs are an absolute bargain for target or game shooting.
Works well to reduce blowback from a suppressor on a 16” carbine, but doesn’t completely tune the gases. Tuning may still need an adjustable gas block, or an H4, to reach optimal gas pressurization. Overall, a good step in the right direction. Would have a greater noticeable impact on an SBR.
After removing the hand guard barrel band from my 1972 Marlin 336 30-30 and replacing it with the Midwest Industries MI-MAR336A Marlin® 336 Hand Guard Adaptor, this hand guard fit the remaining holes perfectly without modifications. It looks sleek and even seems a bit lighter. The 1895 hand guard even came with a short Magpul M-Lok picatinny rail that I mounted under the front of my barrel for an accessory. I don’t have much use for the forward sling swivel under the barrel, since it doesn’t really swivel...it’s affixed in place with thread lock, but it can be removed and any M-Lok sling swivel. It would have been nicer to have a QD swivel hole in place of the protruded threaded-button style. Although, it’s not a game changer for me. My next addition will be the XS Pic rail that bolts to the factory scope holes.
This light is very bright, comes with the remote switch (on/off and pressure-activated combined pad), standard on/off optional battery cover, off-set pic rail bracket, straight pic rail bracket, pic rail switch holder, optional 3M velcro, pic rail wire management cover, 2 different hex Allen wrenches, extra screws, and 2 CR123 batteries. It’s easy to setup and the light can be used on or off of the firearm. I have this mounted on my RIA VR80 semi-auto shotgun and it works well, once I purchased a separate 6” M-Lok pic rail to mount the power switch pad closer to the light. The light is similar build quality and size to my ExtremeBeam M1 Scirraco.
