Hey, it's a self defense round. Yes I've had to defend myself and others, NO, never used this round. My carry rounds for the 380, 40 and 45 have been loaded for at least 3 years now and while most data suggest they'll fire, I just really don't want to find out the hard way that a round doesn't fire when I need to save my or someone else's life.
The 45 and the shotgun stay at home (as much as I'd rather carry the 45), the 40 is daily Kramer IWB under a shirt, and the pocket gun comes when I can't be "casual.". I picked the "compact" loaded rounds simply because they're cc guns and the lower load should help the rise in multiple shots. I do wonder whether I'll overcompensate after pracitce wtth regular load fmj. The limited testing I could find suggests that these rounds were developed by a company with some experience and perform accordingly. My guess is that they must by definitiion have lower penetration than standard loads. Hope I never have to find out the hard way they're not enough. That said, I've been carrying for now over 40 years with substantial if not military training in addition to the usual range time. There are now "self-defense rounds" made by what now must be DOZENS of little companies looking for a buck. I'll bet some of them are really good. I choose not to find out, but rather load rounds from major suppliers. you're welcome to disagree with that choice. Finally, these days you have to expect armor. You'd better practice enough to automatically shoot for
