Vortex useful

Written on Nov 03, 2016

Bought this for 3-Gun. Spent some time today at the Range with the Vortex and an AR-15. Used the rifle's 1 x 8.5 scope just to check "where" things should be at 100 and the amount of compensation for 25 yds. Then swapped in the Vortex. The dials on the Vortex, though a bit mushy, worked when dialing in (and compensating a similar height to the 1 x 8.5) for the 25 - and then hitting the 100 distance using the center dot directly. Heed the instructions about how to seat the bolts correctly in the rail. If you're looking for a 1X, I think this is a good purchase. Included the rail connection, hex wrench, battery, and lens caps.

Another good case from Plano

Written on May 27, 2016

Very sturdy, lockable, yet light enough to haul around. (Only forgot about the wheels once - but nothing was inside). This one did not come with pluck-pull foam. So, draw around your contents, remove the middle layer, and cut using downstrokes with a serrated knife. You 3-gunners can confidently cut spaces for your rifle with scope (and flag), flagged pistol, (empty) mags, and a "few" accessories (unless you take your shotgun apart to move, get a different case for that). Although this takes up more space than a rifle bag, you'll have no worries about piling gear on and around the case.

109501 for shotgun

Written on May 12, 2016

I really prefer the Plano cases for safe, locked transportation. This case can actually fit 2 shotguns (no mounts) with enough supporting foam against the case and separation from each other. As always, take the middle layer foam out of the case; place your equipment on the form and draw an "outline" (I use a green felt permanent marker - what else would you use that color for?); take a serrated knife and, keeping your left hand out of the way, cut on the push stroke (remember, if you prepare food a lot you may tend to place your non-cutting hand too close to the cutting action!). Take your time and avoid the desire to cut on the upstroke - cutting on the pull stroke tends to shred foam resulting in a ragged line that you don't want to see each time you open the case.
