solid folding iron sights that will not fail you

Written on Sep 27, 2019

I've tried and reviewed so many other iron type sights, and the TROY came out on top. One manufacturer came out close but DID NOT pay friendly with aftermarket parts (read on about the Blitzkrieg Components Tritium Front Sight post) I'm glad these Troys fold because that gives the rifle an overall slimmer profile when I store it or take it to the range. I ultimately installed them on my AR-15, front and back, for a no-nonsense, rifle that I can count on.
If you buy these sights, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you spend a few extra bucks more and get the aftermarket BLITZKRIEG COMPONENTS CHEVRON FRONT SIGHT POST with LUMINESCENT TRITIUM/GLOWING CHEVRON. The Blitzkrieg Components post will fit right in place of Troy's stock post. Blitzkrieg even provides you with a nice tool for switching the posts. You don't have to charge the front post with your flashlight because the tritium provides you with a bright little dot to center your aim. However, if you do charge the front post with your flashlight, you will get a bright glowing chevron that will last more than seven minutes.
Incidentally, I like these Troys so much I bought a second set, with the 45-degree offset, for my AR-308 which carries the wonderful Steiner's M5Xi scope. With both the M5Xi scope and the 45-degree Troy sights, my AR-308 is good for well beyond 100 yards AND close-up shots. With exception to the particular model of the Blitzkrieg tritium/glowing front post, I purchased all the above at Optics P

2 tiny swaths of material sewn together

Written on Aug 04, 2018

Wow, I think I paid $10 for the most simply made object in the world. Okay, it is made in the USA and I support that. I guess I should have opted for their larger size wallet, and not the micro. This thing barely holds two cards and a couple of bills. I don't blame Optics Planet. I just think this product is pretty silly.

Terrific 2-point AR-rifle sling

Written on Aug 01, 2018

I'm not a Navy Seal, Army Ranger or even a Latrine Scrubber working for the Armed Forces, so I really haven't had a chance to wear this 2-point sling outside my home. Right now I have it attached to 2 Daniel Defense QD Swivels (Heavy Duty, 1.250"). One swivel plugs into the forend of my AR15 and the other plugs into my MagPul moving stock (forgive me if that offends any of you Californians). Okay, I'm 6'2" and more than slightly overweight, yet the strap allows plenty of adjustment to fit the AR15 on me, and that is before I deploy the QUICK ADJUST. I chose ordinary black, but Blue Force Gear offer a large assortment of bitchin' colors. Have no question: these are fantastic and versatile slings that will suit all Your rifle-carrying needs. BUY ONE, BUY TWO. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG HERE.

Buyer Beware!

Written on Sep 16, 2017

I REALLY looked forward to getting these sights, and I was happy to receive them exactly one week ago. These are the coolest looking sights, but problems lurk beneath. (1) I could not fit the front sight onto my AR-15's Seekins' rail. Well, it fit onto my AR-10's rail, so no big. I could swap sights. (2) the detent for the front post is offset 45 degrees from where every other manufacturer (like Troy) puts their post detent. This means You can only use an after market post made specifically for LWRC, and I could not find one. Huge disappointment for me. (3) The windage adjustment on the rear sight spun almost freely. No kidding. It could easily be moved with my pinky, making it too easy to lose my zero-point-of-aim.
I must be mental, because I was still willing to keep the sights. I decided I could paint the front post with glow paint or something. But when I called LWRC and spoke to the rep about highlighting the front post, he told me that people don't worry about such things because it's just a back-up iron sight, a BUIS. I thought, "wow, $200 for a sight that does not really matter?"
Thankfully I purchased the LWRC Skirmish sights at OpticsPlanet.com and two hours later the sights were on their way via FedEx for an exchange to Troy's Battle sights.
