Excellent Combination of CQB and Longer Range Capabilities

Vortex OPMOD Strike Eagle Limited Edition 1-6x24mm Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube, Second Focal Plane (SFP)
This scope was offered as a limited edition version in a reduced price and I couldn't let that pass. Although I have never had a Vortex scope, I have heard nothing but good comments about them. I took it to the range once to sight it in at 50 yards (it was on the paper out of the box), set the zero at 100 yards, and shot acceptable groups for hunting at 200 yards from my 450 Bushmaster.
I particularly like the 1-6 power, which means at low power you can quickly acquire a close in target, while 6 power give you longer range capability. The reticle is a little unusual, and it is essential to make sure to set the diopter to get a clear image of the fine lines. The horizontal lines are scaled such that at a 100 yard zero they subtend an 18" target at 100, 200, 300, and so on yards. The semicircular image above the crosshairs makes it easy to quickly frame target. I also like the fact that the crosshairs are etched into the lens, so that illumination is not required and you don't need to worry about a dead battery. However, with the adjustable illumination the crosshairs really standout against a dark target.
Another good feature is the extra battery storage (2032) in the cap for the windage adjustment.
My only complaint is that, in a high background noise environment such as a rifle range when wearing hearing protection, the adjustments to elevation and windage do not make an easily detectable "click," and it is difficult to tell exactly how much adjustment you are put
