Only 2 horizontal Molle webs

Written on Jun 10, 2020

That being said it would be inadequate for merely a 2 mag pouch let along a 4 mag pouch. There should be, at the very minimum, 3 Molle webs in not 4. And let;s face it, snap straps like this has are non reliable. Spend your money on a product that will actually perform.

good value for the right gun

Written on Nov 17, 2016

I'm still giving it 5 stars even though it's a bit hard on my hands in use with my KSG shotgun. I could try it on my LWRC M6IC but that already has another Magpul that I like. You can see the quality workmanship in the AFG2 that has become associated with Magpul products.

effective solution

I mounted this on my Glock 19. While being aware that red isn't a true laser and it's effective distance is less than a green laser, this fulfills my home and personal defence role for it very nicely: Red is more difficult for an intruder to see, it uses less battery, it's good to 75-80 feet - more than adequate for my use and it's a lot less money that the green version. Unless your funds are robust, the red on a handgun should be more than sufficient... and, money aside, even better for reasons just mentioned. Save you green laser dollars for your AR where it will be put to good use. However, it bears noting that the shell is polymer; the green's shell is aircraft grade aluminium. However, tha doesn't seem to be an issue as I don't plan on using it as a battering ram. Comes with 3 mounting brackets for different handgun mfrs. Has 6 different programs and is brain-dead easy to select any one of them or move from one to another. The laser-strobe is my "sleep" setting. I like the ECR and use it with a Galco King Tuk, a Tommie Theiss Easy Clip and a Viridian TacLoc.

an old standby

Written on Nov 17, 2016

It get's the job done for me and I have no complaints. It's a good cleaner for those who clean their guns regularly. I always follow up with one of the advanced synthetic lubes like Smooth-Kote or Slip 2000 EWL. The initial cleaning with H9 is good preparation for really doing the job right.

solid value

I chose the TLR-1S for the strobe and mounted it on my KSG shotgun and use it with a Bushnell First Strike 5MOA red dot mounted to a QR mid-riser that gives me 100% co-witness with Magpul backup sights.. I works very well. A quick double tap on the lower paddle will initiate the strobe. What I didn't know before buying and was happy to learn is that a quick follow up tap on the upper bar will put the strobe on continuous. This takes a little practice but it works well. This is a rugged light/strobe.

Mounted on Kel-Tec KSG with mid-riser QD

Written on Sep 30, 2016

I originally got this without the Busnell riser but bought the Mizugiwa 5-slot mid-riser with QD. The immediate 'on' state with the cover off cuts both ways - there if you need it in a hurry (which suite my home protection needs) but not so good if you were to lose the hood. It comes pre-focused with the ability to adjust north-south, east-west. Dumb luck was also with me because, after later attaching the Magpul iron sights, I found I had 100% co-witness. If you're using a red dot with a KSG, I think you should strongly consider a set of iron sites at least as back up in the event of electronic failure. I've only put a few dozens rounds through the KSG with this red dot but, so far, no issues. It seems more than adequate for a shotgun on which I'll be putting a quality light and probably a Magpul AFG2. Along with the iron sights, that should do the trick.
