Initially I couldn't find the forward assist roll pin... it was hiding in the ejection port spring [clever girl].

The finish on the ejection port was uneven, not a huge deal.

Everything functions and went together smoothly.

If possible install the dust cover rod before you install your barrel nut. Mainly because you don't have to deal with the stupid c-clip. If you're like me and forget that step... you can install it from the back side. Just cover potential wear areas with electrical tape [namely under the forward assist]. Get it started and a few taps with a punch and hammer and it will eventually work it's way down far enough. Use a dab of grease to hold the clip in place and then I just press it down with a punch to set it.

When installing the forward assist, get everything lined up correctly... use a punch from the underside to act as a slave pin. I suggest using a roll pin starter... but if you don't have one then a dab of grease combined with a larger diameter punch will get the roll pin started. Once it's close to flush you can go in with an appropriate sized punch as to not mar your receiver and also drive the pin the rest of the way in.

My first MI product was one of their earlier generation Keymod rails. It's slim, lightweight, and is good quality without breaking the bank. I wanted to go a little "old school" with my next build... so I went with a quad rail. Whilst it is heavier compared to let's say a Keymod/M-Lok rail... I don't have to worry about accessories working loose. The great thing about the newer generation rails is that you don't have to time the barrel nut, just torque it to correct spec and you're GTG. Combined with the anti-rotation tabs and the great included directions and it makes installation relatively painless. I would put MI in the mid-tier of rails. It won't get you chicks like the higher end rails... but it won't break the bank either.

I started my journey like many other people... buying cheap holsters. As time goes on they get relegated to a bin or drawer.

Safariland's ALS system is one of the best active retention systems out there. I'm not as much of a fan of the SLS hood [except on some guns that have an exposed hammer].

I would make the investment in the ALS NUB mod [just search for it].

The one con would be the optics hood feels cheap.

I run it with a G17 w/ TLR-1HL with 2 different slides. Brownells slide w/ suppressor height sights and a Holosun 507c. Also a stock slide running Trijicon HD XR's.
