Strikefire II
Written on Mar 12, 2016
I purchased the Vortex Stikefire II for my new Ar-15 Build. I kinda underestimated the cost of building the gun, so the optics budget was tight. At $179, this was a great deal. The red/green function is awesome. As I find that I can see the green better, and my wife can see the red better. Holding the button down for 4 seconds is all you have to do. The 4 MOA dot is pretty big for precision shooting at a distance, but I was able to hit a 6" target with every shot at 100 yards. At 100 yards, the dot was right at 4", indicating the advertised 4 MOA. Every once in a while, I will get a small amount of dot flare, but a small bump will set it right, and I do not see the flare until I turn the sight off and back on again. Holds Zero very well, and you can rotate the caps around so they open down, and they sit nicely on top of the rail. The sight picture is very clear, and the lower 3rd cowitness mount lines up perfectly with the Sightmark 5x Tactical magnifier. The multiple brightness settings work very well, and I found that if I wanted to do some precision shots, I would simply turn the brightness down until I could only see a ghost of a dot, and I was able to ragged hole a 4 shot group at 50 yards.

Sightmark 5x

Review for
Sightmark 5xTactical Magnifier
I purchased the sightmark 5x tactical magnifier about a month ago, and put it behind a vortex strikefire II red dot. It has a pretty clear sight picture, and I like the fact that I can center the dot using the allen screws. The Slide to side feature is pretty neat, however if you are sliding it to the right on a AR15, the empty brass leaving the gun will hit it, and damage your brass at the neck. I then switched it to the left side of the gun, and now if I have it slid to the side, I cant get to the charging handle very well. When it is on the left side, i can drop my head down to quickly see through the magnifier, the look back up quickly to use the red dot. There is a slight flare from the red dot, but not too bad.
Positioning on the gun has to be almost locked in, as the eye relief is only about 1.5". That being said, i was able to ragged hole a four shot group at 50 yards with a red dot!!! When engaged, the mount is very solid, and locks into place, but can be easily slid out of the way, and the quick detach lever makes removing it very easy. All in all, it is a good product for the money, and I will be keeping the magnifier for my wifes new gun.
