Close but no cigar

Written on Mar 20, 2022

This is a great concept, but poorly executed…

First off: it is advertised as a +5 mag extension when in actuality, it’s not! I have an original gen 4 .40 S&W Glock magazine and after installing the mag extension, it only added +2!! Now, I get the size difference in the 9mm and the .40 round, so I completely understand and am content with +2 rounds of .40!! What pisses me off is why it’s being improperly advertised as +5 when based on the round size difference, there is a round count difference! It is what it is with that… on to the next issue…

Second issue: after fully loading the mag, the tension from the spring causes the baseplate to slightly separate from the mag leaving an ever so slight gap that makes the spring visible! This seriously concerns me because I feel that after some regular use, it will cause the baseplate to separate and come flying off!

Third and final issue: because of the slight extra weight from the baseplate, the last round doesn’t hold the slide open. I noticed that when I applied pressure on the mag, it then holds the slide open on the last round, if not, the slide closes.
