I purchased a new, heavy and expensive spotting scope and looked at more tripod/mounts than I cared for. However, The Skyline caught my eye and I thought it would be a winner. I am very pleased with this tripod. Has enough controls/adjustments/sturdiness/flexibility to comply with my needs. It has been many years since I have used a tripod and there have been many improvements along the way and this mount is a fine accumulation of the improvements. Sure, you can spend more $$$ but if you want a mount that is rock solid and does the job at a reasonable price I recommend the Skyline.

This is the second spotting scope I've purchased through OP. First one (different brand) arrived damaged by UPS and was sent back. Had plenty of time to review it and experiment. I wasn't pleased with the product even though it wasn't a cheap one. Received the Leupold and although it was more expensive the quality was immediately obvious. I have other Leupold rifle scopes and have stuck with Leupold because so far everything I've bought has lived up to the brand. The scope is heavy (which I expected) and deserves a sturdy mount. It does come with a tough tight fitting cover of very good quality. I wish the opening that allows access to the scope mounting base was larger as my tripod base plate has to be mounted outside of the cover squeezing the material between the scope base and tripod base. The power adjustment is tight and requires two handed operation but it is reassuring that the scope is water proof. I wish it came with a travel case for better protection over and above just the scope cover. It's a lot of $$$$ but you get what you pay for. Love it!

Purchaser's should be aware that there is NO way to control brightness of the chevron. Brightness is automatically controlled by the ambient lighting conditions. Therefore, if in normal to bright ambient lighting, the chevron brightness is so bright that at 100 yards at least 10 inches of the target is obscured by the bright chevron. At 200 yards 20 inches of the target is obscured. (Like a 10 MOA block out.) Trijicon's answer is to carry a roll of tape with you so you can tape off an appropriate amount of the tubing that runs along the top of the scope to control the brightness to allow seeing the target. OpticsPlanet knows and knew about this all along but there is no WARNING provided in the description. If you have the scope for more than 30 days you're stuck with it. Our Military has to carry tape with them to use the scope!!!! Unbelievable.

I was having problems with 5.56/.223 reloads seating in my new rifle which has a chrome 20 inch barrel. Long story - short. My regular RCBS sizing die wasn't shaping the brass shoulder critically enough and prevented the cartridge from seating. A cartridge gauge check confirmed the problem. I tried my shooting buddy's die and had the same problem. I ordered the RCBS Competition Die Set and resized my brass. "Voila", no more problems.
