When I first mounted this optic and was playing around with it indoors, I thought the brightness settings were pretty low. The green is significantly brighter than the red on max brightness. When I brought it to the outdoor range I realized the red on max brightness was not visible *at all* and the green on max brightness only turned a etched reticle a ghostly green. I ended up turning the light off entirely and just using the etched reticle. Which was fine for the day, I like the reticle shape and it was very close to zero at 36 yards right out of the box. I took it home and swapped in a fresh battery and did not notice any improvement in brightness. Again, the red is dim inside a controlled lighting environment, and it is not visible at all in sunlight. I’m not sure if I got a dud because I haven’t seen that issue in the other reviews I read. I would not recommend this if you want anything like a red dot functionality at 1x power.
