I can see 22 caliber holes in the paper at 85 yards with these with very little to no fringing. Things at the same distance as the focus point on the edges of the lens are just as sharp or close as sharp as the center. When zooming into 24X you lose a lot of light. But in daylight, it’s still adequate. It’s made out of sturdy plastic with glass lenses. I’ve heard some criticisms about these, but I didn’t notice the same things that people were complaining about. While at 8x, you can find some really decent substitutes for around $35. But at 24X I don’t think that you’ll find anything as sharp, with such minimal fringing, and bright at this price point. One other thing to note is that some people have complained that they can’t hold them steady enough to make 24X useful. This will be the same for anything that reaches 24X – not just these binoculars. It might be nice to have some kind of a Tripod mount on them. But that would make them awkward to use as well. I think you’re better off just bracing yourself against something or the binoculars against something to give you the most steady image at 24X. So far, I am very happy I went with these Instead of cheaper options and instead of vortex, spotting scopes at a similar price point.
