Nicely made

Written on Sep 13, 2024

The chest rig is nicely made and has good quality leather. It is comfortable, but a 6" S&W 44 Magnum is pretty heavy which can cause some upper back fatigue by pulling my chest forward. I might try wearing a back canteen / water bladder or small backpack to balance things out. I might also by a Galco hip holster for this heavy gun and see how that feels.

I might try this rig with my 4" 357 Magnum to see if the balance better with that pistol.

Takes some time to get accustom

Summary: Easier to be more accurate, but seems slower than iron sights on a pistol.

This looks to be a solidly build and rugged sight that should hold up to intended use.

I got the the RMR to go on my M&P 9MM and have been using it for a few weeks. I wear glasses (progressive lenses) and have been having some challenges with getting a good sight picture using iron sights. I generally shoot better without my glasses.

Using the RMR the sight picture is great because you can focus on the target and the red dot seems to be superimposed on the target. I have no problems wearing corrective lenses while using the RMR. So far it seems like the red dot greatly improves my accuracy at longer distances (30 to 75 feet).

The down side to using the RMR is that It seems to slow my shooting down. It can be easy to 'lose' the dot and it takes time to get the pistol aligned so the dot comes back in view, especially when shooting from awkward positions. Hopefully with some more practice I will be able to go after targets as aggressively with the RMR as I do with iron sights.

initial impression is good

I haven't mounted the scope on my AR yet. I did a table top comparison with a Bushnell Legend scope that I've had for several years. The clarity is similar, but the Elite colors and contrast seem to be different. I was expecting a more noticeable difference between the Legend and Elite scopes.

Since I am still learning about scopes I will reserve my opinion to a future time.

helps move scope forward

This scope rail is well made and fits the ruger 10/22 correctly. I got it so the scope could be mounted further forward. No I can get a good eye position on the scope while maintaining a comfortable head position.

Well made and fits right

the rail fits perfectly in the factory Ruger scope mounting socket. The rail is nicely made. I put a Bushnell red-dot scope in it. Because the rail adds a little bit of vertical height to the scope, I now need to find a pad for the stock to allow for a good cheek weld.
