Believe the negative reviews

Written on Aug 24, 2020

I didn't want to believe that this was such a weak product. I figured Strike Industries would have remedied the issues by now. They even send a little card that says to torque down to 15 inch-pounds. That was a good sign. That's what I thought until I set my torque screwdriver to 15 inch-pounds, placed the screws through my Vortex Venom into the mount, tightened, and then felt the threads strip. Although ruined at this point, I tried again with 13 inch-pounds, which stripped the other side. Is my driver not calibrated? Maybe. I don't want to say it is definitely the product's fault. Has it ever stripped threads in another product when going by the manufacturer's guidelines? No. I would caution buyers to confirm calibration on their driver and perhaps question Strike Industries regarding whether 15 is the appropriate torque. Alternatively, Strike could just make a stronger mounting bracket and charge slightly more. This is a good idea for a product with few, if any, alternatives. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy it if I were given a torque figure that worked, but I am now in the camp of those individuals who had to write a bad review about its tendency to be weaker than expected.
