BladeTech Has Never Let Me Down

Written on Aug 22, 2015

I've been using Blade-Tech mag pouches and holsters since I started competitive shooting in 2009. I absolutely love their products. Hand made kydex products always seem to have some variation in them but Blade-Tech's stuff looks like it comes off an assembly line.
The WRS level II retention holster is a must have in the sport it 3-Gun. I also use one when hunting or other open carry situations so that I don't inadvertently hook my pistol on anything in the woods/car and have it hit the dirt. Draws are never as fast with a level II holster but this one comes darn close.

Must HAVE Tool For Any Serious Gun Afficionado

Written on Mar 14, 2015

I am not a gunsmith. I am a professional 3-gun competitor and a serious gun nut. I get asked a lot about my guns and gear and which is better then the next. Trigger pull weight is always a question I get asked. How much is your trigger pull? How much heavy is that trigger versus that trigger. So I bought this gauge to measure all of my triggers. It works great. It is incredibly accurate and sensitive. I wish I would have had one before. This is the same gauge my gunsmith uses as well.

Buy with confidence.

The RMR is the most rugged mini red dot on the market

Written on Jan 05, 2015

I have one of these on a pistol. It has over 3000 rounds on it and has been flawless. The adjustable LED is the way to go. I am not nice to it either as we ditch our guns in buckets and trash cans in 3-gun competitions.

Troy Battle Sights are 2nd to none

Written on Dec 26, 2014

If you're looking for some serious flip up sights for full time use or as backups the Troy sights are where it's at. Tough enough for hard duty. They also look good! The locking detent is very positive so you know they are locked in place. The dual appature is perfect for precision work or high speed hosing.

5.11 Stryke Pants FTW

Written on Dec 24, 2014

I have been wearing a couple of pairs of the 5.11 Stryke pants for about a year. I had them in rotation with the new 5.11 Traverse pant. The Stryke is an upgrade of the old standby 5.11 rips top with their two way stretch material and waste band with an elastic strap in it. These pants allow you to get comfortably in and out of any position at work, in the field or on the range. I shoot 3-gun on the 3-Gun Nation Pro Series and they are great for all the awkward shooting positions and running and gunning we do. I prefer these over the traversepant because they are a little more durable. The traverse are almost like a tactical yoga pant. Traverse are great around the house or in a run but the material is soft and fm gas four way stretch so it's not as rugged.

Vortex OPMOD Strikefire II is a Beast for what it costs.

Written on Dec 19, 2014

I shoot for Optics Planet as one of their Pro Gear Experts. Optics Planet sent me the OPMOD StrikeFire II to test and I loved it. You can check out my video review here.

The OPMOD StrikeFire is rugged, good looking, and you can't beat the price. I zeroed it at 50 yards which puts me close at 200 yards and only a few inches high at 100 yards. The 4MOA dot is perfect for CQB type shooting. The unlimited eye relief is super fast on up-close speed and wide transaction target acquisition especially when you don't have a perfect cheek weld. One of my favorite features of the optic was the little post that fits the notch on the windage and elevation adjustment screws.

Buy with confidence. You won't be disappointed in this optic.

Troy Battle Sights are the Industry Standard

Written on Nov 25, 2014

The Troy Folding Battle sights are the industry standard when it comes to Back Up Iron Sights BUIS. I have several sets of these sights on my carbines and have yet to find a reason to buy anything else.

Best Bang for the Buck on a Red Dot Optic

Written on Nov 06, 2014

I just picked up the new Vortex Strikefire II OPMOD edition. This thing is a lot of dot for the money. The included mount, red/green option, flip caps, and price can't be beat. This thing is going to see a lot of use on my carbine.

The JP Enterprises Cleaning Guide Rod is Awesome!!!

Written on Nov 03, 2014

I replaced my plastic bore guides with a set of these .308 and .223 bore guides. These things are classic JP Enterprises stuff. Well built, functional, and good looking! I love the hole that gives you access to add a new patch or bore cleaner without having to remove the rod. These maybe a little pricier than the other options out there but these are going to last you, your son, and your grandson forever.
