When I wanted to replace my ancient pair of 8x30 binoculars, I wasn't sure what magnification I wanted, knowing that steadyness and FOV both drop as magnification increases. I bought these as an experiment, and I'm glad I did. I settled on 10x for what I really want, but these will be kept as a spare in the car. They will be good for scanning distant vistas while on trips, maybe even for night time skywatching. I wouldn't want them as an only pair, but for these uses they will do well. They're small enough to fit in the glovebox or center console.
I initially bought one of these, to test and for my wife to use for bird watching. We both liked them well enough that I quickly bought another one. Both will ultimately go in our general "go/bugout" bags. The optics are clear, and easier to keep steady than I expected compared to an ancient 8x30 pair we'd been using. The material is easy to grip, and the focus works smoothly.
I've collected flashlights since I was about 8, and have seen and handled hundreds of them. This one definitely fits in the top five, for durability, brightness, and features like the focusing head. Be aware that it does have some cons, such as no clip or other asymmetrical feature that would prevent roll (fixed with a pen and some rubber bands), no lanyard, and it is not suitable as an area light. I believe I'll be able to count on this one though, so it's going in my BoB.
