Honestly in my arsenal I have only one Glock and it’s the gen 4 G21. Only bought it because it was brand new and a buddy gave me a price I couldn’t refuse. I don’t like how it felt in recoil for one and that alone made me think what a hunk of metal I just bought. Of course it’s a .45 but it didn’t feel like the other .45’s I had in the full size. I have a DPM in my Canik TP9 SD, Kimber .45 and love how they shoot with it so I thought let’s try it out. With a Timney trigger and the DPM it’s night and day. My reset is seconds faster with this gadget and can get back on target so much quicker. Really impressed. Overall I enjoy shooting this machine now. It smoothed out the recoil so much that you can feel how heavy the slide is. I’m so impressed on how just the simplest things that are perfected turn an ugly duckling into a swan. I recommend this to anyone that has the very problem I had in felt recoil. Even have a few buddies that went out and got this setup and praise it. OP has the best price and their packaging department is on point. Got it fast. Came days earlier than expected. Like it so much I’m ordering it for my Canik SFx Rival S Darkside this very day after I hit submit on this review.
A must have if you really are into your builds and maintaining your machines. Throughout the years I’ve managed to accommodate an array of tools obviously with different purposes. Had to borrow tools out of my toolbox to fulfill the areas in which I didn’t want to have two of. Ex. Torque wrench, crows feet, punches. But some of the tools this kit has to offer has one job to which you can’t substitute for. Quality is of highest standards and honestly the only thing it lacks is some needle nose pliers. I was able to give my son all the tools I had and that’s when I realized this kit has tools in it that I had 2 of to complete a task in which there’s one strictly for it. You get what you pay for. I’d refer this kit and buy again if I had to. I put it off for some time but realizing I just made so much room on my bench consolidating tools I am so happy I bought this kit.
I really like SI. Their products have never failed me until now. The barrel nut is un-timeable. Shims, no shims, it doesn’t matter. Now let’s just get it out of the way that I use shims between the handguard and barrel. But it’s to the mere 1/4” that the barrel nut won’t line up with the gas tube channel. I spent a week emailing SI about the issue and requesting to get their prior barrel nut design with the divots or channels but they said they discontinued that design. Their response in the current problem I was having was to cut a channel of my own with a dremel tool. Gotta say that’s not the way I build my machines but it did work. Looks great. Very versatile and the quick release design is something that actually sold me to buy it in the first place. I also like the integrated front iron sight but the mere fact I had to fabricate my own means to getting it to work blew me away. So the stars I give is for the quality, anodizing and design but I left the rest blank for bad mounting design.
I love strike industries and their products. But the design of the barrel nut has a flaw in the timing and honestly they should’ve kept the design of their last gen barrel nut with the multiple divots for the gas tube to run up into the upper receiver because the one that comes with this handguard will not come to line up for the gas tube when spec’d out to 40-50 ft lbs of torque. It’s a mere >1/4” and the shims only make it worse. I never put my shims between barrel and receiver so let’s clear that up. But it doesn’t matter if you put 1 or two of the shims supplied with it, it just won’t line up. On top of that you start to get a gap between the upper receiver and the handguard. So I spent a week emailing strike industries about getting the older style barrel nut and they discontinued that design. They proceeded to tell me to cut a channel in the barrel nut to accommodate the gas tube channel. Smh. I’m not built that way when it comes to my builds but it worked. So for now it weighs on me the channel I cut but it works. Strike Industries dropped the ball on this flawed design of the barrel nut. But dang does it look good. So if your debating about this handguard buyer beware, your gonna have to think outside the box. 3 stars is for looks and quality. But the rest was left blank for the fact that you have to get it to work. Note I did reach out to a lot of my AR buddies and forums to which actually came across a few builders that had same problem to which they got the same re
