Glad I found this rail to mount a scope on an AR built for long range shooting. I gives me the added 20 MOA of adjustment so my scope doesn't run out of elevation too soon. I can still use my choice of rings too and also get the scope forward far enough. Don't have to use a cantilevered ring set and can keep the scope from getting too high.
Typical Weaver quality rings. Well built and solid connection to base. Six screws seems to be a little overkill. Perhaps it's just for looks. Everyone wants "Tactical" these days. What I like about these and other rings of this design is that I can remove the scope from the rifle without taking it out of the rings. That avoids setting it all up for level and eye relief again when putting it back on the rifle. Usually it is right back on target too.
Haven't had the chance to fire a shot with this on the rifle yet so can't comment on tracking or durability but I am impressed with it so far. It appears to be well built - if a bit heavy - and clear. I like the recital and the fact that for this kind of money you can have it in the first focal plane. The one I received has very smooth and positive turret clicks. For those that don't perhaps they have too much and too thick of grease in them? Side parallax and magnification ring adjusts smoothly. All in all it is a lot of scope for the money.
This kit contains every bushing I need for the calibers I want to play with seating depth. Only have to run cartridge into chamber to find the lands and then use this to measure where they are. From there I can set the depth of any bullet to the depth I want to start at to determine most accurate seating depth. When I find that depth by shooting I can document it and always have an accurate check as I load for that rifle.
Adjustable for depth but I think I would rather not bother with that. I worry that the pressure I apply while using it may increase the cutting depth if I'm not careful and the set screw doesn't hold it. A preset permanent depth might be better? Guess I don't understand why it needs to be adjustable and not just set to the standard depth. As far as cutting, it does a fine job and will last a long time.
