Makes it easier

Written on Jun 30, 2016

I've had the hand-crank Lyman trimmer for a while, mine dates back to the mid 90's lol. I could only do maybe 150 223 cases at one time before my hands started cramping so bad I had to stop. I finally broke down and decided to try the Lyman power trimmer attachment, and it's a huge improvement. Trimming brass is still not a real pleasant task but the powered shaft makes it 10X easier and faster. In one setting I trimmed 400 LC brass 223 cases in just a couple hours. Pretty much as fast as you can chuck them in the trimmer. I use my 18V Makita cordless drill on the lowest speed setting and I connected the drill with a flex coupling which means the drill does not have to be perfectly in line with the trimmer shaft. This makes life so much easier! One recommendation: keep the trimmer shaft lubed! I lube mine with light oil and white lithium spray grease about every 15 or 20 cases. This shaft is well worth the cost.
