Poor fit leads to excess wobble
Written on Feb 11, 2022
I gave this rail 3 starts because it does drop in without any problems, and it does have mlok slots on it, and it's also aluminum. I only gave it 3 stars though because once it's all screwed together and on the rifle it flexes up and down about a quarter to a half of an inch. The side to side movement isn't that bad, but as soon as you assume a firing grip you feel the rail flex upward until it either hits the barrel or the top of the handguard cap, but I'm not sure which one. You could most likely use small pieces of electrical tape on the front of the rail where each half slips under the handguard cap to mitigate that slop in the rail, but I didn't try that. I got a Leapers UTG drop in rail instead because it is designed so that you install it into the delta ring first, then clamshell the front of the rail around the handguard cap. Then it's screwed together. The only other thing I noticed about the guntecUSA rail is that the mlok slots are kinda sharp and it makes it a little uncomfortable if your handling it. I don't think I would recommend this particular rail, but I do own one of their ultra slim free float rails and it's quite nice and definitely solid.

One of the best feeling drop in handguards on the market

This rail is one of the most secure non free float handguards I've handled. The front of the handguard rest on the outside of the round cap that holds the front of the handguard and it's then screwed together. The fitment is so good that there is no up and down or side to side movement, and the spines that engage with the barrel nut are snug so there's no play if you twist the rail. This rail also comes with some decent rail covers. All that, and it's made in America and you have a great deal for the price. I would feel confident putting some type of laser or even a front sight on the rail if that's what you need to do. I think this rail is one of the best options out there for a carbine with factory handguards and you don't want to change the barrel nut or cut the delta ring off with a Dremel. 10 out of 10 would recommend and buy again.
