Great upgrade, but needs some additional standardization to it
Written on Oct 11, 2021
This was pretty easy to install on the surface, but then the weirdness started. The instructions and videos that I found all contradicted each other. I have a carbine length tube. The inconsistencies were: 1. do you need the detent pin stop or not? I found that it's not necessary, but the official instructions don't say that; however, on the youtube video it says it's better to remove it. 2. The length of the spring system was too short. They include a little 1/32 spacer in case you need it, but mine was easily 1/8" too short (I could not screw the tube in any more without it blocking the upper). The website and instructions actually say not to add additional spacing; however, the youtube video said to put a "quarter" in the back. Well, I ended up cutting a 1/8" washer out of the included nylon spacer, which worked perfectly fine.

Easy for those that aren't comfortable with "pinning"

This was really as easy as it says. I did have to remove it once to take the tube out one revolution. It was a little tough, but it came off. I did have to tighten it a few more clicks than the instructions stated. Has a cool look to it too. The end plate pushed the detent spring in easily with no bending.

Everything you would expect

The pistol grip is such a great fit! I obviously like the looks since I purchased it, but wasn't disappointed when I got it. Everything lined up great and it was so easy to install. Be aware that it DOES NOT come with the grip screw. After installing it, I did notice after installing it there was a rubber overlap underneath the trigger guard. It's a little weird since it seems out of place. Perhaps there is some purpose to it. I used the Strike Industries Billet Trigger Guard w/ Finger Rest. Perhaps I'll end up trimming the rubber a little so that it doesn't stick out, but it doesn't bother me.

Good fit, strong, nice finish, worked perfectly except for the roll pin

Review for
Aero Precision Melonite Gas Tube
This worked great. It was part of a first time build. I knocked it a few times and it had no marks, bends, or dings. Here's the issue that I had. It came with a roll pin, which is good; however, so did the JP Enterprises .750 Adjustable Gas Block. So, firstly I was confused why I had two of the same sized roll pins. First I used the one that came with the tube. I'm 100% certain that a skilled armorer would have had no issues putting it in, but I had some real issues getting it through and ended up damaging it. Luckily I had the gas block backup and it went in perfectly first time.

Easier to install than the standard cover

I actually didn't realize it when I bought this, but this is spring loaded within the pin itself. You simply press one side in and slide it into place. I've knocked it a few times and it got no marks, no dents, no bending, so I'm pretty happy with the durability.

Good fit into the ar15 handle
Written on Oct 11, 2021
I used this on my first AR build. I used a combination of top brands for the build and the Hogue pistol grip did not come with a grip screw. I've taken it off and on several times and it fits perfectly. The hex has not been damaged with the loosening and tightening.

Doesn’t fit with Zev Tech / Mega Arms Ar15 upper/lower
Written on Oct 04, 2021
I installed this tube into my lower and the tube extended too far into the front of the lower receiver that the upper wouldn’t even fit (blocked by the tube threads). I did not screw it in too far, just enough to perfectly get stopped by the detent. So, I backed it out one revolution to fit the upper. Well now there is a gap, b/w my JP silent buffer spring system and the BCG. The only option if I want to keep it is to sand off the first few threads to avoid collision with the upper or not use the silent buffer system. Most people don’t have an issue because they use a regular buffer spring and wouldn’t have an issue backing out one turn as the spring would continue to stay in direct contact. Three stars because mil spec should be mil spec, period; and this is not, it’s off by about 1/32 inches.
