Works better than expected. Shipping sucked again.

Written on Dec 28, 2024

Bought this to complete a 365 SAS to XL conversion. It’s OEM so expected no issues but it also worked as expected with a Dead Air Ghost 45m suppressor with sub-sonic rounds. This is a big deal because my “suppressor ready” 320 Legion required a different spring system to run the same suppressor.

All that good was offset by the poor shipping experience provided by optics planet and the USPS. I paid for faster shipping and it took longer to deliver. I will shop around in the future because of this.

i can shoot suppressed now.

One of the biggest shames out there is buying a handgun with a threaded barrel and suppressor sights but not being able to do that. Prior to the DPM recoil reduction system that was the case.

The product works well but for what you get it’s a little expensive.

Another quality Product by Vortex

Written on Nov 25, 2024

On one pistol I have a Defender XL. It is their largest pistol red dot of this style. Decided to put a red dot on a M&P 2.0 and decided on this CCW. It works very well mounted with the gun supplied plates and the glass is very clear. Initial zero was just a bit low but within 5 minutes I had it hitting bull.

I am starting to like the Vortex product more than my Holosun red dots. My Holosun 407’s and 507 always seem more blurry even with regular cleaning.

I sadly have needed to use the Vortex warranty in the past but I can confirm the process is easy and quick. Vortex stands behind their product. For this reason, my future purchases of pistol optics, I will choose Vortex.

Favorite optic out there

As a former infantry Marine, I am quite familiar with this optic. The cost is steep but in my opinion, in the end, it is worth it. I have a handful of the other popular optics (EoTech) but, this is my favorite and the one I am most comfortable with. The fit and finish is high quality, which is typical of Trijicon.

Using this product is simple just mount, zero, and practice. This optic will reward you for many years with little more than basic cleaning. In my experience as a range officer, the easiest way to zero is shoot a paper target from ten yards (some systems came way off neutral) to ensure you will hit paper. From there I would use 25m BZO target. Ten rounds later you will have a workable 300 zero with 62 grain 5.56.
