Wide Angle

Written on Apr 10, 2018

This is a great addition to my Burris spotting scope as it has a wide field of view and presents a clear image. The 20-60x is nice but the fixed 30x is really all I need. It would be nice to order the eye piece of your choice.

DI Optical RV1

I bought a demo model on sale with a discount and free shipping. Arrived as new. Well made rugged red dot using it on my AR15. Doesn't co-witness exactly but I usually keep the sights folded down. If the red dot fails, which I doubt due to it's construction, I can easily see the sights through the scope if I need them. 20,000 hours of AA battery life works for me.

Quality Scope

I settled on this scope after a hard look at units in this price range. I like the dual focus. It is precise and the image does not move while focusing like the Vortex razor I returned. I think the glass is a bit better than the Razor, although they are both made in China to a specification by the vendor. Chromatic aberration is well controlled but still present in high contrast viewing. Before I placed my order, I called Burris to ask where it was made and was told Japan. I understand it's a global economy but it seemed deceptive to me. What's a spotting scope without ranging reticles? Kudos to Burris for having both MOA and Milliradian 30mm WA reticle eyepiece options to do some manual calculations for range estimation in the field. Very cool you can mount their red dot sight on it. I chose the Mil reticle since it matched my scope. Overall I think it is very well built with quality components and I am pleased with this spotting scope.

Mounting Kit

The lapping bars worked very well to true the rings on my Ruger Hawkeye. The torque wrench works as it should for securing the rings. I had to use torx bits from another set because the size I needed was not included with the set.
