Another great Leupold product. The VX-R 3-9 x 40 scope is great for general hunting applications. A bonus is the illuminated dot that allows quick aiming in low light conditions. You can get aligned with the target much faster than with a scope without the illuminated dot. I love it.
I purchased the Vortex Razor Red Dot Reflex Sight to put on my Colt 1991 Officers model .45. I used the Vortex Razor mounting base so the install was simple. I drove out the existing rear sight and slid the Vortex adapter into the existing slot. The base plate attached to the new adapter with two screws that were supplied with the kit. When the screws were tightened the adapter wedges into the slot. I did have to slightly shorten the two screws but I used a file to do this in just a few minutes. Following the instructions the install went quickly. The Vortex Razor worked better than expected. The one button off and on are great features and easy to use. The battery installation was much easier than other brands of sights. I went to the range and adjusted the sights at 15 yards and then moved to 25 yards. The group was 2 inches high at that range. I returned to the range the following day and recheck the zero. The sight was still tight and the groups did not shift. I am very please with the result. The sight seems rugged but only time will tell. Until then I will be smiling when I pick up the 1991.
I needed a receiver extension for my current AR-15 build. I have had great success using CMMG receivers so I decided to try their receiver extension to mount my Magpul CTR adjustable stock. The mil-spec extension kit was a perfect fit to the receiver and the Magpul CTR stock. There were no issues with the build. I highly recommend the CMMG receiver Extension Kit. Be sure to order the correct part (milspec or commercial size).
I purchased the Nikon M-308 for my Savage .308 Long Range Hunter because I have never bought a bad Nikon scope and I have many of them. I mounted the scope using a Weaver 20 moa scope base and medium height Weaver rings. Everything went together smoothly. I used a Wheeler torque driver to ensure proper tightness and also made sure the base screws were all the way forward in the slots. I also used a set of Wheeler bubble levels to ensure the scope was level on the rifle. I used a Laserlite bore sighter to get in the ball park and save ammo. A quick trip to the range with some Hornady 168 grain SST ammo and a target set up for 100 yard zero told me all was well(5 shot 3/4inch group). I only had to move the scope 3 clicks to be dead on. Since I had the BDC reticle I put clay birds on the 200 yard line and used the second mark in the scope to quickly dispatch the clay birds. Nikon has another winner!
I bought the Crimson Trace CMR-203 Rail Master Green Laser Sight to attach to my Kahr PM9. The fit was perfect and it was easy to install. I had to adjust the laser slightly but it was very easy to do. It doesn't take but a 1/16 of a turn to move the green dot quite a bit. The green dot is easy to see on a bright sunny day. I pointed the laser to the green grass and once my eyes figured out what I was looking for it became easy to find. I suggest looking at the dot on a white surface and then moving it down to the grass. It will be easier to get used to it that way. I could not believe the difference between the green laser on the PM9 and the red laser I have on my CW40. The green is much easier to locate. I will upgrade all my lasers as I can afford them.
