1. The stock pictured is not the one you’ll receive. You’ll receive the ELITE variant which features a ridiculously long length of pull (I’m 6’5” and it’s uncomfortable even for me), an FDE cheek riser, and a sort of janky looking over designed shock absorption system that could’ve easily been replaced with a limb-saver pad in the R&D phase.
2. I’m not certain these parts are made in the U.S. The Black River Facebook page claims they are but the website doesn’t say which is odd and company reps have reportedly admitted that they are Turkish imports so if you’re wound tight about 922(r) maybe look elsewhere for a replacement stock.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be any American made offerings as far as collapsible m4 stocks go but FFT has some excellent fixed stocks that offer a shorter length of pull than a fully collapsed ELITE stock.
Overall, I was not impressed by this product.
In fact, it helped me decide to stick with the FFT Urbino that I was at the time looking to replace.
This, along with the JP SC buffer and an adjustable gas block, lets you get the most out of your AR platform weapon. In the case of my AR10, function is glass smooth, recoil is easy to anticipate and control, and the weight it does add only helps me balance my rifle. The price is nothing to scoff at but I’d say it’s a considerable upgrade and definitely worth it.
Most people would think a 125% increase of the surface area of your magazine release is no big difference and most people would be wrong. Just use your brain during installation and you won’t regret purchasing this subtle but measurable upgrade. It really just makes an already easy function twice as easy but everybody who knows, knows that stuff counts.
The Atibal X is a decent scope but it’s trying very hard to pretend to be something it’s not: high quality. I’ve never seen a Vortex Strike Eagle that wasn’t on par with or better than this optic. 10x magnification is grainy but that’s to be expected on a mid quality optic. The reticle is almost smudged in some places, the tac marks for BDC are only discernable between 4x and 8x magnification and if you choose to illuminate the reticle, they’re again nearly impossible to use with confidence as they’re difficult to make out. There was also a decent amount of dust inside the optic which showed itself clearly when illuminated at any magnification. I really wanted this scope to be better than it actually was but finally I gave in and returned it. Sub Strike Eagle quality should not be marketed in the $600 range and I imagine that’s part of the reason that Atibal remains on the periphery of quality scope production. Soon, every LPVO and it’s mother is going to reach out to at least 10x magnification which is literally the only real pro of this optic other than the design of the throw lever fin which I was actually impressed with. So... get something cheaper that’s reliable or spend some real money for something that has no excuse to have the problems this scope does but don’t pay 600 bucks for what should be a 300ish dollar piece of glass.
