Coke Bottle Glass

Written on Dec 23, 2021

I'm a big Holosun fan and have three of their other red dots, but this pistol red dot was absolutely terrible. The glass was tinted too dark, and there was so much distortion that I found the optic to be unusable. Very big disappointment.

For Me, This Is The New Gold Standard In Collapsible AR Stocks

Written on Aug 01, 2021

Prior to buying this FAB Defense GL-CORE S stock, my favorites were the Magpul STR and the MFT Minimalist (Mission First Tactical BattleLink Rifle Stock). The MFT is of course just about the lightest and most minimal but usable stock anyone would want with an AR. It also has an embedded Magpul QD ring which is located in the center of of the stock, vertically, for versatility. The Magpul STR of course has about the best check weld in the industry, and it has the option of mounting a Magpul QD ring on either side, but you have to pick the side to mount it. The FAB Defense GL-CORE S is smaller, lighter, and more compact than either the STR or MFT, and it's Magpul QD ring comes installed horizontally in a center location for easy use on the right or left of the stock. Finally, the FAB Defense GL-CORE S is cheaper than the STR and has a better cheek weld than the MFT. To be clear, any of these three stocks are excellent. But the FAB Defense GL-CORE S comes out on top in my book.

Sweet Spot Between the Strike Eagle and Razor

Written on Aug 31, 2020

This optic is priced and performs in-between the relatively low-cost Vortex Strike Eagle Series and the pro-quality Razor series. In my opinion, it's much close to the Razor in terms of optical quality than the Strike Eagle. The three things that really sold me on this optic: (1) the minimalist MRAD reticle (I loathe MOA) with a simple red dot in the center gets rid of all the business and clutter of a typical BDC reticle, (2) the clarity and light transmission of the glass, and (3) the way the optic almost disappears on the 1x setting (something about the low-profile dials and the ocular lens make it so the rim of the optic almost disappear and you've got an incredibly open field of view, rather than feeling like you're looking down a black tube). The only detractions from this optic are: (1) the red dot needs another one or two lower settings (way, way too bright at night on it's lowest setting), and (2) the eye-box is tiny on maximum magnification, so you have to really have a perfect check weld and sight alignment.

Good Bump Stock; Poor Regular Stock

Written on Mar 22, 2018

I bought this for goofing around. You lose accuracy and burn through a lot of ammo using any sort of bump-fire system, so this stock is really more of a novelty more than anything else. It's a good bump stock, but I wouldn't buy this as my main stock. It feels rickety and the plastic looks and feels very cheap. Not really comparable to a Mag Pul stock, for example.

I still rate this as a "recommend" if you're looking for a bump stock.
