vg10 is great steel and would recommend highly, however this good steel is accompanied with cheap side scales and cheap packaging like you might find on a sub 50$ knife, would rather have less packaging than cheap packaging. I would not have paid full price for this knife, was able to find it 10% off of what it was going for market wide when i ordered it with other items. Spyderco has more hype than i think the quality is worth; my opinion from this purchase.
